Urban Design Advisory Committee
▼Previous Meetings
Urban Design Advisory Committee members discuss project area design components at their August 17, 2007 meeting.
The Urban Design Advisory Group (UDAG) advises CRC on the appearance and architectural design of bridge, transit
and highway improvements. UDAG members from Oregon and Washington
contribute diverse professional and community perspectives on a variety of
topics including architecture, aesthetic design, cultural and historic
resources, community connections and sustainability.
Recommendations
Research conducted by the group provides project staff with information
on bridge aesthetic options, community design concerns, design constraints and
long-term sustainability considerations. This information along with input from
sponsor agencies and public comment helps inform project design.
UDAG research and recommendations included:
-
Development of a set of
Design Guidelines for the
main span across the Columbia River and the urban design of all other
elements of the five mile corridor.
-
Recommendation of a two-structure crossing for the
replacement bridge across the Columbia River.
-
Development of an
Architectural Design Concept Document
that provides additional design direction for the main span across the
Columbia River.
