Current Topics

The Columbia River Crossing project team is currently refining designs for each of the project’s components based on public and local partner agency input.

Work in 2010 includes:

  • Engineering a replacement I-5 bridge based on community input and CRC Project Sponsors Council recommendation
  • Engaging in a collaborative process to address issues related to project design
  • Receiving a report from an Independent Review Panel
  • Selecting the light rail route through downtown Vancouver
  • Receiving recommendations from the Portland Working Group on community connections and design for the Hayden Island light rail station
  • Receiving recommendations from the Vancouver Transit Advisory Committee on design for stations and park and rides, and methods to ensure a safe and secure system
  • Continuing design on improved pedestrian and bicycle facilities
  • Developing a finance plan
  • Talking with communities to hear concerns and provide information
  • Analyzing community and environmental effects of the project for the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
  • Reviewing public comments on the Draft EIS and publishing the Final EIS
