Hayden Island Open House
February 2010
An open house was held to show how members of the
Portland Working Group are working with Columbia River Crossing project staff to
improve Hayden Island. The event focused on the latest project and light rail designs;
pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicle access around the island; commercial and
residential development around the transit station; and safety and security measures.
The Columbia River Crossing project will extend the MAX Yellow light rail line 2.9
miles from the Expo Center in Portland to a station near Clark College in Vancouver.
There will be a station on Hayden Island, providing regular transit service to key
regional destinations in downtown Portland and Vancouver. The project will enhance pedestrian and bicycle connections between
the station, businesses, and residential areas.
